PKI Configuration Manager
Job Summary
The PKI Configuration Manager will support the Air Force Public Key Infrastructure (AF PKI) System Program Office (SPO) by developing and managing a comprehensive configuration management (CM) process for PKI hardware, software, and documentation. This role involves creating a configuration management plan, maintaining a Configuration Management Database (CMDB), establishing change and version control processes, conducting audits, and reporting to stakeholders. The specialist will collaborate with Government program managers and technical experts to ensure alignment with program goals, requiring a detail-oriented professional with expertise in configuration management and PKI systems within a Department of the Air Force (DAF) context.
Job Duties
- CM Plan Development: Develop a configuration management plan detailing processes and procedures to control changes to SPO product hardware, software, and documentation.
- CMDB Management: Establish and maintain a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to track all changes to program hardware, software, and documentation, coordinating with the Government for approval.
- Change Control Process: Create a change control process, including procedures for requesting, reviewing, and approving changes to ensure controlled modifications.
- Version Control: Implement a version control process to manage updates to software code and documentation, maintain consistency and traceability.
- Configuration Audits: Establish and execute a process for conducting configuration audits to verify compliance of hardware, software, and documentation with approved configurations.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with Government program managers, technical experts, and CM staff to align the configuration management process with AF PKI program goals and priorities.
- Reporting: Provide quarterly reports on the status of the configuration management process and audit results to program leadership and stakeholders.
- Team Management: Manage workload and schedules for a small team to include technical writer and knowledge base manager.
Required Qualifications
- Configuration Management: Proven experience developing and implementing configuration management plans, processes, and databases for technical programs.
- PKI Knowledge: Familiarity with PKI systems and their hardware, software, and documentation requirements within a DoD or DAF environment.
- Change and Version Control: Proficiency in establishing and managing change control and version control processes for software and documentation.
- Auditing Skills: Ability to conduct configuration audits and ensure compliance with approved standards.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with Government stakeholders and technical teams effectively.
- Security Clearance: Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a minimum Secret clearance, with all employees cleared to at least Secret by the contract start date of June 1, 2025.
- Location: Ability to work in San Antonio, TX, with potential on-site support at the Government-leased facility as needed for CM activities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- DAF PKI Experience: Prior experience managing configuration for AF PKI or similar DoD PKI systems, enhancing relevance to program needs.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Configuration Manager (CCM), or DoD 8570/8140-approved Information Assurance certifications (e.g., IAT Level II or higher).
- CMDB Expertise: Advanced skills in maintaining and utilizing a Configuration Management Database, with experience coordinating approvals.
- Technical Documentation: Strong background in managing and versioning technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Reporting Skills: Exceptional ability to produce detailed, actionable reports on CM status and audit outcomes for leadership review.
