Material Expediter/Material Transporter

Summary:

This position is a direct report to the Osi Vision Material Coordinator Task Lead and contributes as a team member to the efficient execution of the CCSD Warehouse requirements within the functional area of responsibility.  Responsible for adhering to project operational directives, as well as those security and safety requirements as directed in the performance work statement (PWS).  Provides direct technical expertise and technical contributions over the day-to-day activities of the contract.  Coordinates and effectively cooperates with supervisors, coworkers, and the customer to execute Material Expeditor duties, such as, expediting flow of material/parts/assemblies, meeting production schedules, ordering material, and completing associated reports both timely and professionally.  Accountable to both the Osi Vision Material Coordinator Task Lead, as well as Osi Vision Program Manager for meeting established technical, cost, labor, and contract management expectations.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities.
  • Reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material.
  • Requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material.
  • Arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified.
  • Monitor and control movement of material and parts along conveyor system, using remote-control panel board, compute amount of material needed for specific job orders.
  • Applies knowledge of product and manufacturing processes to compile report of quantity and type of material on hand.
  • Compiles perpetual production records to locate material in process of production, using manual or computerized system, and maintain employee records.

Specific Duties:

  • Receive Requests from HNC Customers for transportation of material(s).
  • Coordinate a vehicle that matches the size of the material(s) being transported.
  • Confirm with Customer of date and time.
  • Pick up and secure cargo in vehicle, transport to new location.
  • Assist in inventory, safeguarding and purchasing shipping material for all outbound assets.
  • Executes Packaging, Identifying and Properly documenting duties for critical out bound cargo.
  • Performs transportation inbound duties concerning receipt, storage, issue, and replenishment of supplies using Integrated Logistics System Supply (ILS-S).
  • Demonstrates sound security practices for ensuring safeguarding of classified information and completes all mandatory security training and self-assessment to ensure high standards of excellence.
  • Analyzes 30% characteristics of commodities shipped to ensure consistency of freight classifications and recommends changes, such as consolidating contractor shipments and using alternative methods of shipment to reduce transportation costs and attain greater economy of operations. Performs item management duties and general clerical support work; utilizes excel and word processing software to create letters, reports, memos and other textual documents.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with crytological equipment, equipment maintenance, warehouse operations, inventory, classified operations, OPSEC, COMSEC, and OHSA requirements.
  • Active DOD Top Secret or Secret Clearance
  • Possess a valid/active Driver License
